Charleston, SC - July 2008

We drove down for a day trip to Charleston from Myrtle Beach (only about 2 hours). We had Google Maps directions and Yahoo! recommendations for dinner. We took a carriage tour of the city followed by a harbor tour on a boat. By doing them both in the same day we saved money on tickets. Katie put on sunscreen but apparently needed more as she still turned bright red. The carriage tour was nice, a little squished, but the guide was very knowledgeable and fun. The harbor tour schedule didn't quite line up with the carriage tours so we had over an hour to wait outside in the sweltering heat for the boat to leave. The guide there was nice too and the boat ride was fun and not hot since we got a great ocean breeze. We switched the camera between us so that Katie took the carriage ride pictures and Nathan took the harbor pictures. We read Yahoo! reviews to select a place for dinner and found this great little restaurant. Parking was horrendous and it was about to pour so we were a little skittish about having to park so far away. However, the ambiance was unbelievable. We had a mezzanine level all to ourselves which meant our own waitress with nothing to do but serve us. She was very nice and the food was good, just a little fancier than we expected. Dessert was amazing =) The drive back to our hotel would've been better if it hadn't been the worst thunderstorm ever to drive in. The power got knocked out which made people forget how to drive. All in all, a wonderful getaway for a day!
